Cops for Kids

Another successful year for our 24th Annual Cops for Kids Event.  As an outreach to our community Crime Stoppers and the Albuquerque Police Department are proud to have sponsored a 110 under privileged children this year to participate in this one day event. Children were nominated through APS Title 1 Homeless Project and Law Enforcement to spend a day with an officer. The kids were treated to breakfast at Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town, where they saw Air1 arrive with Santa and Mrs. Claus, participated in a Photo Booth and Giveaways, met McGruff the Crime Dog and Albuquerque Isotopes’ Orbit, learned about fingerprinting, built wooden toys from Home Depot, and got a special visit from BCSO’s Therapy K9 Penny.

A traffic escort then took the children to Walmart, where they bought school necessities and holiday gifts. They also got to meet APD’s horse mounted unit and Star Wars characters.

The fun didn’t end there. The children were then taken for another traffic escort to Main Event for lunch and an afternoon of games and fun.

We would like to thank all of those who volunteered their time, those who have donated and all our sponsors who have continued to help give back to our community. We look forward to next year.
